The Jefferson Garden Club has added another creative element to Arch Alley on the north side of Jefferson’s historic downtown square. Six black iron planters have been placed at the north end of the alley as a welcome to the unique space. The planters will be located three on the east side and three on the west side of the alley and filled with flowers coordinating with the planters on the square.
Last week the Jefferson Garden Club presented city administrator Mike Palmer with a check for $800 for the purchase of the planters. Also participating in the presentation was Deb McGinn of the Tower View Team, a committee of Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community, which collaborated on this addition to the alley. The funds for the purchase of the planters were raised from previous Garden Club Tour of Homes, the popular holiday event which will again be held this year on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Garden Club president Shelly Berger said, “The club is happy to further beautify Jefferson with these planters. Residents of the community and county have been great supporters of the Tour of Homes. We are excited to bring back the event and at the same time enhance the community. Watch for more information about the tour, the announcement of homes and more details on the event next fall. But for now, put the date on your calendar.”
